As we mentioned in previous article, Premenstrual syndrome effects over 70% to 90% of women before menopause in the US and less for women in Southeast Asia because of their difference in living style and social structure. The occurrence of premenstrual syndrome (PMS) have more than doubled over the past 50 years due to the acceptance of it as a medical condition that is caused by unhealthy diet with high in saturated food. Premenstrual syndrome is defined as faulty function of the ovaries related to the women’s menstrual cycle, it effects a women’s physical and emotional state, and sometimes interferes with daily activities as a result of hormone fluctuation. The syndrome occurs one to two weeks before menstruation and then declines when the period starts. In this article, we will discuss how red pepper effects women with premenstrual syndrome.
I. Definition
Red pepper has been cultivated over thousand of years, it is a plant belongs to the family Solanaceae and native to the America. It is one of the diet which has been used as a blood enhancerin traditional medicine.
II. How red pepper effects women with PMS
1. Capsaicin
Red pepper contains high amount of casaicin which helps not only relieve pain for our body in the abdominal region, but also improves the immune system in fighting against irregular cells growth causing inflammation and infection to the reproductive organs.
2. Lipophilicity
It also contains also lipophylicity, which is a mild anesthesia which helps to sedate the nervous system resulting in lessening the risk of nervous tension including depression, anxiety and stress.
3. Blood circulation enhancer
Red pepper is contains spicy chemical agents which help to improve the blood circulation in transporting the vital nutrients to the body cells including the the brain cells and reduce levels of bad cholesterol in the bloodstream resulting in lessening the risk of dizziness, tiredness, loss of energy and loss of interest in daily activity.
4. Antioxidant
It also contains high amount of vitamin A, C and E which are powerful antioxidant, besides assisting casaicin in fighting irregular cells growth caused by oxidation, it also helps to improve digestive system in absorbing the vital vitamins and minerals and reduce the risk of premenstrual syndrome caused by nutrients deficiency.
5. Constipation
Besides containing variety of minerals which is necessary for enhancing over all health, red pepper also contains high amount of fiber which helps to improve the large intestine muscles in moving stool, thereby lessening the risk of constipation.
